No, no, no!

No, no, no!

For my entire career, I knew that — as every lawyer learns — you park your car near a certain end of the parking lot at the Bergen County courthouse, so you can walk across the street and then the unfenced part of the sheriff’s deputies’ parking lot and get to the court building in time for the degrading process of being scanned and frisked.

So someone figured out that was making life too damned easy for the world’s most contemptible creatures — lawyers — and ordered up a host of cones and orange-and-white dividers so we’d have to walk all the way down to the street and traverse the sidewalk , the long way, like so many second graders being escorted by a crossing guard.

No respect!

Just be glad you’re not a real criminal. Then you’d have to endure a chauffeured ride to the door.
