The ultimate penalty

Posted by Ron Coleman on October 26, 2007

Sometimes, justice demands nothing less than the ultimate penalty. In Texas, they have determined one of those times.

That is justice, not “vengeance.” The concept of punishment is largely lost on our soft-minded (forget the heart already) society. Punishment is an aspect of justice, and is both separate from prevention and unrelated to remediation. It is the lack of a sense and understanding of justice that a society becomes lawless — that crimes like the ones described at the link become conceivable.
