I don't buy into anything approaching a theory of organized conspiracy, Brian. To the contrary I believe the vast majority of reports are very liberal and very ambitious and, far from conspiring, they will cut each other's throats in a second to break a story that brings down any politician. But during elections, by and large "the story" is the election -- and then they speak with one voice. It is not a coordinated voice, per se. It just comes out that way.

Tatterdemalian Says: "The media is planning for the collapse of western civilization, even doing their best to surreptitiously bring it about ... The intellectual elite have decided they would rather rule over a dark age than be mere citizens in an golden age."

Where does this paranoia come from? I can't help but think that if you replace "media/intellectual elite" with "Jews" ... it is the same mentality. "They" are out to get "us."

Ron, I don't understand why you feed into this. Do you really believe that there is a "MSM conspiracy"? With the media so fragmented, is this even possible?

I don't know. People, even journalists, tend to learn from their mistakes, and a lot of the rumormongers who jumped on Monicagate are way more leery now. More importantly, there is a new aspiration in the media today, which goes hand in hand with the new sense of desperation everyone is experiencing (which the economic crisis is really a symptom of, rather than the cause for). The media is planning for the collapse of western civilization, even doing their best to surreptitiously bring it about, and the prize they seek is more than just book deals and a moment in the spotlight. The intellectual elite have decided they would rather rule over a dark age than be mere citizens in an golden age, and they are in the tank for Obama because he is their best hope of achieving that goal.

I think the day will come soon when people wonder what the big deal was about Watergate, because entire government branches didn't quietly vanish, with the media pretending they never were there in the first place, to conceal it.

I still remember when we visited my grandfather's farm on a hillside a few miles from Hobart. IIRC Hobart is close to Oneonta. This was in the mid-50's, and he was quite pleased with himself for his recent purchase of an automatic conveyor system to load the manure spreader with manure from the trench in the dairy barn. I'd bet you a dollar that the farm's still there, not so much as to whether its owner makes a living farming. The state of New York has a lot of places that aren't very close to New York City; I wonder if that has anything to do with the lack of New York congresspersons who move up to the Senate, rather than people like Kennedy and Schlossberg.
