Jules Crittenden would rather distinguish between bozos and non-bozos: “It’s the smart jihadis I’m more worried about. Not bozos like these. You’d almost think these were the ones they wanted us to catch.” Actually, there’s a high bozo contingent in Al Qaeda. They make up for the fact that they’re not especially bright by being persistent and willing to learn from their mistakes.

Actually, I can’t think of a better definition of “bright” than learning from your mistakes.

    Ron,

And I have often considered that perhaps AQ recruits from amongst the down-trodden because they themselves think so little of them. To AQ (and others, Hamas, Hezzbollah, etc) these “martyrs” are throw-aways, mere pawns to see where the gaps in the fence are, so to speak. They assign them tasks knowing full well the likely outcome will be death, because by sitting back and studying the results, AQ can piece together the whole security plan. Probe for weaknesses, exploit them.

    Respects,
